TRUMPET PLAYER

After trying out a number of instruments, Hans finally started playing the trumpet at the age of eight at the local brass band. At the age of nineteen, he started thinking about his career and the idea arose to continue as a professional musician. Despite his interest in electronics (which would come in handy later in his home recording studio), he started studying Trumpet, Jazz & Pop with Jan Wessels at ArtEZ University of the Arts. Hans earned his bachelor’s degree in music in 2006.

After his bachelor’s study, Hans continued at ArtEZ for his master’s. During this study, he took lessons with Jan Wessels, Angelo Verploegen and Jan Oosthof, among others. He earned his master’s degree in music in 2008.

During and especially after his studies, he started playing with several artists and bands, ranging from small venues and intimate concerts to mind-blowing stadium concerts. Almost directly from the start, Hans started writing arrangements for horn sections for live shows and later on also for CD recordings. More about that can be found in the ARRANGER/COMPOSER part.

Hans is endorsed by Vincent Bach and plays Bach’s commercial trumpet LT 1901B.
