Another busy but fantastic month has come to an end! It kicked off with a highlight right at the end of September: a performance in Prague. Together with The Rich and Famous, I boarded the plane and immersed myself in the beautiful old city center. It was a lively corporate event, and during our performance the crowd went wild – such incredible energy to be on stage with this amazing band!
October was also all about the studio. For the new farewell musical by Spotlight Musical Productions, I had the opportunity to work as a songwriter and producer, recording, among others, Rivelino A.K.A. BlackRockstar. These recordings will be released later this year on YouTube and Spotify, and are meant to inspire and excite the 8th-grade students for their roles in the farewell musical. With this recording as their inspiration, they’ll undoubtedly shine on stage at the end of the school year!
Recently, I’ve often been invited to perform at a wide range of funerals across the country. Through uitvaart-trompettist.nl, more and more people are finding their way to me. It is a true honor to contribute a small but meaningful musical element to such occasions. In the coming weeks, several more funeral performances are already scheduled.
Another musical highlight: the single “Trouble is Me” by Tangarine, featuring my trumpet playing, was released this month and has been very well received by the audience. The band is currently touring the Netherlands and performing the song live. Curious how it sounds? You can listen to it now on Spotify.
One of the most special moments this month was Open Doors Day, which focuses entirely on the global persecution of Christians. It was deeply moving to hear the harrowing stories from around the world. As a trumpeter, I had the privilege of performing in a special orchestra with custom arrangements by Jan Willem van Delft and Ruben Bekx. Each arrangement was written in a style reflecting the speaker’s country, allowing the orchestra to move the audience both musically and emotionally. It was truly an honor to be part of such a meaningful event.

In November, I’ll continue mixing and mastering the recordings for Spotlight Musical Productions, and the musical will be presented to the public. I’ve also been asked to create a new arrangement for the Christmas show of the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, and several live performances are on the agenda as well. It’s such a joy to stay active in so many different musical projects and to keep embracing new challenges.
Weer een drukke, maar geweldige maand achter de rug! Het begon meteen met een hoogtepunt aan het einde van september: een optreden in Praag. Samen met The Rich and Famous stapte ik op het vliegtuig en dompelde ik me onder in het prachtige oude centrum van de stad. Het was een bruisend bedrijfsfeest en tijdens ons optreden ging het dak eraf – wat een energie om met deze fantastische band op de planken te staan!
Oktober stond ook in het teken van de studio. Voor de nieuwe afscheidsmusical van Spotlight Musical Productions mocht ik in de rol van songwriter en producer o.a. Rivelino A.K.A. BlackRockstar opnemen. Deze opnames worden later dit jaar uitgebracht op YouTube en Spotify, en zijn bedoeld om de kinderen in groep 8 te enthousiasmeren voor hun rol in de afscheidsmusical. Met deze opname als inspiratie gaan ze zonder twijfel stralen op het podium aan het einde van het schooljaar!
De afgelopen tijd ben ik regelmatig gevraagd om op de meest uiteenlopende uitvaarten te spelen, door het hele land. Via uitvaart-trompettist.nl weten mensen me steeds beter te vinden. Het is bijzonder eervol om hierbij een klein, maar betekenisvol muzikaal steentje bij te dragen. Ook de komende weken staan er weer een aantal optredens bij uitvaarten gepland.

Nog een muzikaal hoogtepunt: de single “Trouble is me” van Tangarine, waarop ik trompet heb gespeeld, is deze maand uitgekomen en goed ontvangen door het publiek. Op dit moment tourt de band door Nederland en voeren ze het lied live uit. Benieuwd hoe het klinkt? Beluister het nummer op Spotify.
Een van de meest bijzondere momenten deze maand was de Open Doors Dag, die volledig in het teken staat van de wereldwijde vervolging van christenen. Het is indrukwekkend om de schrijnende verhalen van over de hele wereld te horen. Als trompettist mocht ik meespelen in een speciaal orkest, met arrangementen op maat van Jan Willem van Delft en Ruben Bekx. Elk arrangement is zo geschreven dat de stijl past bij het land van de spreker, waardoor het orkest de mensen in de zaal zowel muzikaal als emotioneel meeneemt. Een bijzonder moment om deel van uit te maken.

In november ga ik de opnames voor Spotlight Musical Productions verder afmixen en masteren, en wordt de musical gepresenteerd aan het grote publiek. Daarnaast ben ik gevraagd om een nieuw arrangement te maken voor de kerstshow van de Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine, en staan er nog een aantal liveoptredens gepland. Het blijft heerlijk om zo veelzijdig bezig te zijn met muziek en steeds nieuwe uitdagingen aan te gaan.
